W… EVERYTHING HAS MEANING!

For the purposes of the drone show in Warsaw commemorating the Warsaw Uprising, we developed a script featuring 12 symbolic figures referring to this theme, as well as the values that once accompanied the Insurgents and still resonate with the residents of Warsaw today.

1. W for LOYALTY (to every Insurgent!)
   Symbol | The Polish flag together with the symbol of the Fighting Poland, resembling the armband worn by the Insurgents, refers to paying tribute to all participants of the Warsaw Uprising. Its purpose was to direct the audience’s emotions toward the constant remembrance of the events and people of the Uprising.

2. W for GRATITUDE
   Symbol | The Little Insurgent Monument, symbolizing the heroism and courage of the Insurgents, as well as the greatness of their fighting spirit. Regardless of age, they showed extraordinary bravery — even the youngest — and to this day, we remain deeply grateful to them.

3. W for REMEMBRANCE
   Symbol | An exploding brick wall and the letter “W” referring to the hour “W”, the exact moment of the Uprising’s outbreak — a moment of great significance for the residents of Warsaw and all of Poland.

4. W for BRAVERY and for WARSAW
   Symbol | The Mermaid of Warsaw, as the city’s emblem and symbol of its residents. Armed with a shield and sword, the armband on her arm symbolizes solidarity in the fight for Freedom.

5. W for COMMUNITY (that rebuilds everything)
   Symbol | The Poniatowski Bridge, one of Warsaw’s most recognizable bridges. Completely destroyed, but through the efforts of Warsaw’s residents rebuilt (like the entire city itself), it represents the shared effort of the people of Warsaw and refers to the rebuilt city preserved in the memories of the old town.

6. W for FAITH (that ignites hearts for battle!)
   Symbol | The ‘44 Heart. In 1944, despite destruction, faith and hope burned strongly in their hearts. The Insurgents stood to defend their homeland, showing that even in the most difficult moments, they made courageous and heroic decisions. Each generation of Warsaw’s residents has carried this faith — that the city is worth fighting for and rebuilding again and again.

7. W for SUPPORT
   Symbol | The Scout Emblem, referring to the enormous role of the scouts, who through their actions supported all operations of the Uprising. Even though Warsaw was left alone in the fight, its people supported one another within the city’s walls and underground tunnels.

8. W for ENDURANCE (beyond all limits!)
   Symbol | The White Eagle, which, despite adversity, survived in our national emblem to this day. It has always symbolized courage and heroism. These are the values of the Warsaw Insurgents — they were unwavering and extraordinarily resilient, despite all opposition and isolation. The figure of the Eagle hovering over the city symbolizes the blood shed in battle for freedom.

9. W for FREEDOM (the highest of all values!)
   Symbol | Broken chains, symbolizing that the Warsaw Uprising was an expression of the indomitable spirit of the people of Warsaw, who longed to regain freedom and dignity. One of the highest values in life — one worth dying for with pride.

10. W for MEMORIES
    Symbol | A glowing candle, referring to the preservation of memory of this heroic event and all who took part in it. It is a moment of reflection, reminding people to remember the stories surrounding this place.

11. W for GREAT HISTORY
    Symbol | The Warsaw Uprising and a counting clock, as a symbol of the passing of time. It refers to the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Uprising, showing how much time has passed since that historic moment, and inviting reflection on those who are still with us — though only a few, the living Insurgents.

12. W for ETERNITY
    Symbol | City panorama and the slogan: “We Remember!” The image symbolizes the undying memory — also cherished by the residents of contemporary, modern Warsaw. The memory of the heroes of the Warsaw Uprising will remain eternal in this city.
